The Start of a New Life
I’m a musician, first and foremost. I want to make money doing that. So don’t fault me for doing covers and learning Chinese so that I could sing in Mandarin for the Chinese masses. I wanted to stay here, I saw that my future was here, not in Canada. And I’ve been able to make a go of it here. The new venue is open (The Terrace) and the new band is great. Hopefully it won’t be long before I can report the recording of our (my) original music and not long after that to hear about the release of our first CD.
I want to produce some young artists here, and hopefully write or co-write their music.
I want to have homes in China and Canada and travel back and forth while promoting our music in both places.
But for now, I’m working hard to make this venue a success, and going by experience in opening these places, it’s going okay. Of course, those of you that live in the area and haven’t heard our and or tried our Thai food probably don’t know what you’re missing. We treated the room with acoustic foam, bought the best sound equipment we could, and gave it everything we had to create a great live music environment. We found our Thai chefs in Hong Kong where they’d been working for the last 10 to 15 years and doing very well at that.
I’m really proud of what we’ve done over here, and like any endeavour, there’s always more to be done, more improvements, more toil. And in the end, it’s all about the music for me. I want it to be perfect but I’m willing to settle for improvement. In the end I believe it will lead to the realization of all those other dreams that I have.
